if you have a new flat and you want to broadband it, regardless of the issue of who is best, i understand you HAVE to have a BT phoneline to get broadband from ANYONE. is that true?

like, if i decided i wanted to go with 02 broadband, then i have to get a BT line, pay line rental on it, and then get 02 broadband. is that right?

does it not then just make sense to get BT broadband? is BT broadband any good? how are they able to operate such a shameless monopoly?
