Does anyone actually understand / consider Art...?

Gashwrecker [Edit] [Delete] 16:06, 30 January '13

(apologies in advance for the rambling and unfocused nature of this post...)

I mean, I see people in galleries chin-stroking and looking at one piece intently for ageeeeeeeeees.

Are they really dissecting / considering and taking in lots of information? Or, are they just trying to look serious / intelligent?

I *do* like art, well, some of it. But I find I just look at something and either appreciate the technique /craft / composition / colours - pretty quickly assess if I like it or not - and then move on.

Some work is a lot more obvious if it has some form of meaning / political intent behind it - but I don't really try and find meaning in most art, I either like it or I don't

Am I missing out on lots of enjoyment? Or is it mainly just knobheads who are trying to impress other people?

Just wondered really.
