Farmer's markets

vamos [Edit] [Delete] 10:01, 25 January '13

I don't think I trust them.

When we first got one in Wandsworth, I was really excited. I thought I could stick it to the supermarkets that govern my life and job so much. I knew they would be INCREDIBLY expensive and only supplement a part of my weekly shop but that's not really my gripe.

What's got me suspicious is that I've now been to several different ones all over the country and they're all identical.

Chegworth Valley apple juice. 2 fruit and veg stalls (which only ever have potatoes, carrots, cauliflower and some greens). A fancy bread manufacturer. A cheese peddler. A farm selling sausages.

The people don't engage with you at them like they did years ago. There are more fast food stalls now than actual places to get veg from. I'm wondering if it's now an organised venture to rip off us Guardian reading middle class wannabe do gooders?

TELL ME YOUR THOUGHTS ON FARMER'S MARKETS.
