Let's sit down and have a nice chat about cultural theory, postmodernism, etc.

I have a BA in Cultural Criticism from Cardiff. 2:1 since you ask. Almost entirely worthless in the job market and, I suppose some would argue, worthless altogether.

To put it briefly, I still have kind of a complicated relationship with the the whole area. I think what a lot of it boils down to (on both sides) is the language employed. On one hand I think that it can be unnecessarily dense and therefore perpetuate a sort of impenetrable, academics-only aura about it; on the other hand I think some of the terms are just worth learning if you're interested in understanding the ideas being bandied about, and it's sometimes easier to dismiss than to try and get to grips with.

Sort of discussed here, as linked by another DiSer in the Burchlol thread: http://www.leftfootforward.org/2013/01/comment-on-feminism-and-the-suzanne-moore-controversy/

Also I wrote briefly about it many years ago in an almost painfully BA grad way but I still stand by the essential points: http://thesmallerpicture.blogspot.co.uk/2007/08/liberals-can-be-just-as-bad.html

Come on trolls, it's open season.
