So there was stuff happening this week!

Call of Duty 537 came out and the world gave it the now customary 8/10 we expect. Never really know why they bother reviewing these games as it's only 4 months down the line and after 500 days of multiplayer gaming that people know if it's any good or not anyhow. From the lukewarm reaction, you feel this *could* be the last huge CoD title...

Looked pretty swanky and I have no idea how that's running on a current generation console. The size of the map made me gulp a bit given that I found San Andreas' too big, but I think the time they've taken on this shows it should be good fun. Got a sense from the 3 unlikely characters working together at the end like they've been watching Breaking Bad.

Best bits: driving a jeep out of a plane and parachute jumping from it / the Bond Aston Martin falling off the back of the truck

Podge raised in that thread a question I think a few of us have toyed with in recent years - what keeps people coming back to the same franchises every year? I think GTA is a bit different personally as it's only once or twice every console it emerges but I think I'd struggle to pick up a new side scrolling Mario, FIFA or COD game every December.

Watched an interesting IGN feature on the Wii U yesterday. The people that have had time with it are saying really positive things but - as ever with Nintendo - they do seem to have got some of the basics wrong. No online multiplayer on most of the initial 20 or so games, no confirmation on battery life of the gamepad, a slow USB 2.0 cable connection to an external HD and - if you buy the smaller capacity model - this rather stupid scenario:

I played a bit more Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex on the Wii. Great controls. Average game / interactive movie.
