3D Printers and the mindfuck that is them

amyblue [Edit] [Delete] 09:25, 2 November '12

I had a wonderful laugh at Paxman trying to get his head round this concept on Newsnight the other night but I will admit my mind has been blown by the possibilities of it since. You know when something seems ridiculously futuristic and then it actually exists in real life? Can we realistically expect a 3D printer that could, say, generate a chocolate bar or something in the near future?

The thing I've been wondering in a realsitic short term goal is whether existing £1000 printers that you could buy for the home could print up vinyl records and would they necessarily be as good as the manual process to make one. Thoughts?
