Has anyone bought an iPhone 2nd hand and had it unlocked so that they can use it?

LOLpop [Edit] [Delete] 20:58, 22 October '12

I foolishly thought that this would be a relatively easy process, but after visiting several places that unlock phones, I'm starting to realise that it's anything but.

I'm not sure why, but I honestly thought that it would be as simple as going to a shop / bloke in a market, paying a fiver, handing pver the phone and getting it done there and then. But it takes (at the quickest) 2 days to get it done. And the cheapest that I've found is £40.

Have I visited complete con merchants? Does anyone know anywhere that actually does unlock iPhones for £5? apparently 4s cost about £60 to unlock!!

Just to pre-ampt - I've phoned 02 and asked them to unlock it, but they've said that they can only unlock it if the previous owner phones them up. I'm currently getting her to do this, but this has been 99.99% more of a ball ache than I expected.
