Tablet/e-reader thread about magazine subscriptions

DanielKelly [Edit] [Delete] 14:04, 25 September '12

It's only fair that I make the thread subject title as boring as possible. Don't want any of you excitedly bounding into this thread and then exiting in abject disappointment.

ANYWAY, I pre-ordered a Kindle Fire HD the other day. Seemed a justifiable move, given that I work in publishing but have never owned an e-reader and (far more importantly) wanted to bask in the momentary glory of owning something a little bit cutting edge. Just for once.

BUT now I've had a look at the Kindle magazine subscription store and it looks fucking shit- loads of low budget, lower interest independents and hardly any of the bog standard newsagent titles are there. I don't want to subscribe to some sexless cunt's sci-fi short story periodical, I want to read Little White Lies and When Saturday Comes. Hell, I'd settle for Empire and FourForTwo.

Does anyone here use a tablet/e-reader thing for magazine reading? Or know anything about the Kindle Fire? Am I being dense or is the magazine market place really that bad?

In the event that anyone is inclined to reply, feel free to reply loosely and on any matter related to tablets and/or e-readers.
