Hello,

I'm giving my first formal toast/speech in a couple of weeks. It's at a dinner party and you know, a man gives a toast and says something about the ladies and vice versa, and I'm the lady (yes) saying stuff about the men. As far as I understand it's meant to be a good mix of saying nice things about them and making fun of them also. The making fun part I've pretty much got covered ;)

I've given a few speeches before but in more informal and sometimes more personal settings, like say my mum's 50th birthday or at film screenings or whatever. But this is a first for this kind of thing, so I thought I'd ask for tips, or any stories you might have about successful or unsuccessful speeches.
