Being offered a job under certain conditions and then finding out that those conditions aren't going to be met

legz_akimbo [Edit] [Delete] 20:15, 1 September '12

apologies for the long thread title.
I'm a teacher and I am planning on doing an MA this year. Knowing that my current/previous college wouldn't let me take the time off (without a big pay cut anyway) I looked for another job.
The headmistress at the new place offered me the job and promised me 2 half days off per week so that I could do my MA.
When the guy who does the timetable made the timetable for this year nobody told him I needed 2 half days off and subsequently hasn't factored it into my timetable.
Now I'm 2 days away from starting a new job and I'm being told there's nothing they can do about it now and the headmistress who offered me the job has now left.
what do i do?
a) suck it up do the job and miss 50% of my MA seminars
b) start looking for a new job immediately (which is gonna be hard to do this time of year and finding something that meets my very particular conditions)
c) go crying and begging back to my old job and take a paycut

or is there another option that I'm not thinking of here?
