Why does/should anyone take this Pussy Riot band seriously as political activists?

GayGuevara [Edit] [Delete] 14:12, 31 July '12

I don't get why they've become such a cause celebre (is that the right phrase?!). The Guardian are reporting their activities almost daily, I've even seen various MPs tweeting about them, and Amnesty International are now running some petition bullshit:

I've seent the video of the church gig they've been arrested for and I don't see problem with the police's actions. AI humorously downplay it by saying: "Their crime? Performing a gig in a church". But that's not quite true. They stormed into a church and just starting shouting and stuff - they were not invited to play there. I think we can all agree that that's a fair ground for police involvement - even in this country the same procedure would have been followed.

So yeah, why's everyone/anyone taking them seriously as a revolutionary force like Russia's Arab Spring or something?

Hmmm, interesting...
