Which parts of London did young groovy people used to live in in, say, the 70s and 80s?

like, nowadays everyone bells-off and grooves around east London and shit, but before that was the consensus you'd hear about bands living in Kings Cross or Primrose Hill or Soho & it's weird to think of those places as not being astronomically expensive.

People didn't really used to fetishise AREAS quite as much did they? I mean, Kings Road aside, they'd go to gigs and nights all over London...I dunno. This make any sense?

anyway I've got to dispose of a Maxibon wrapper now man.
