The Dark Knight Rises

drcoffeebean [Edit] [Delete] 15:58, 20 July '12

Dunno if there's been a thread yet. Saw this last night. Really pretty awful. As evidenced by this and Inception, Nolan seems to be under the impression that the more big, loud shit he crams into every scence, the better and 'smarter' it will be. It's all just overwhelming in a very bad way. And it's all impossible to care about any of the spectacle onscreen, because none of the characters seem to exist as human beings; they exist to deliver Nolan's convoluted dialogue, and carry out convoluted actions, but don't seem like any of them could possibly exist outside of the scenes in which they are featured. They deliver their lines so we can ogle at things going boom and batman riding his cool machines. Not that things going boom and cool cars are bad, but it is beyond me how anyone could take this shit so seriously or god forbid call it intelligent.
