I ask because I've basically come to the conclusion that they're all pretty much the same, with varying degrees of grease. There are some specialist ones which offer different fare, but so many times people say "oh yeah this is the best curry place" and it turns out just a bog standard.

E.g. Monsoon in Kentish Town. Recommended to me by someone, plus their menu is covered in endorsements from Ed Miliband so what more could you ask for right? Wrong. Bog standard.

Went out with the inlaws to some place in Kilburn, same story: they raved about it, it was OK.
