Music Social More…

are there any good British essay writers?

michael_w [Edit] [Delete] 19:58, 27 June '12

it seems to be such an American thing....write comically and whimsically about yr own experiences, sometimes tie it into a big point about wider issues, but sometimes just write for the comedy of itself.

i got a david sedaris collection today. not sure what he's like, but they bang on about him loads on This American Life and i bloody love This American Life, so i'll punt on it.

TAL is a case in point. that really exhibits that American essayist style....

SO I JUST WONDERED...

is it something us plucky Brits have ever been any good at?

i'm sure we have the talent, is it just that they never really use the form as we know it in the American way?
