Calling all grass experts

WhiteLightWhiteCity [Edit] [Delete] 14:06, 21 June '12

All of you. Shepherd's Bush Green is currently being redeveloped (since about February this year), which means it's getting some playgrounds or something and will be new and shiny.

Anyway, it's meant to be done in time for the olympics. However, at the moment, the entire thing looks like a giant dirt pit and I can't see any grass at all, let alone the bright new shoots that would characterise a flourishing new green.

Here's my question: Doesn't grass take ages to grow to a reasonable length (enough to withstand being walked on by thousands of people)? And if so, does that mean there isn't a chance in hell of the green being open again in the next couple of weeks, OR, are there ways around this (super fast growing varieties, or `transporting` from elsewhere or something mental)?

Grass.
