The Falkland Islanders to vote on sovereignty.

This is by and large the most sensible thing to do in my opinion. Instead of the British and Argentinian governments squabbling, then a firm 'NO', as i'm sure it will be, to the question of changing the rule should be concrete enough to stop the arguing.

Of course, Argentina will still claim the islands as the Malvinas but I think they wont have much ground to stand on if the islanders do indeed say that they want things to remain the same.

If in the unlikely circumstance that the islanders vote the other way, what do you think will happen? It would be a huge and costly operation to change everything surely? For instance, the garrison at Port Stanley will have to be taken down and troops re-assigned. They will also have to find a new place to test the Royal Artillery's Rapier missile system. Not to mention they will have to change trade and emergency medical treatment channels. However, this is all very pointless to talk about if it doesn't happen - which I'm sure it wont.

What do you think about it all? Isn't there a Falkland Islander who uses this website? What is your view?
