Also, am I the only one who thinks it would have been insane to replace Cahill with another central defender? We've got four already, even if two are pretending to be centre-backs or right-backs. Obviously it's nuts if Hodgson didn't at least try to get Richards (even if originally he hadn't wanted to be on stand-by, I think you'd have to swallow your pride and try anyway) but it wouldn't even have crossed my mind to consider getting Ferdinand in, purely because his position's already covered.
