Music Social More…

just finished watching all three mini-series of 'Cracker'...

They're all on Youtube, and have been on ITV3 late on Sundays. I didn't bother with the two later specials, broadcast 1 and 10 years after the last series.

Forgot how brilliant it was. Think i'd even go as far as to say it's the best British drama i've seen, even ahead of what i'd deem the Big Three - Our Friends in the North, Blackstuff, and TTSS/Smiley's People.

Coltrane's portrayal of Fitz is just outstanding. The ultimate TV anti-hero, imho. The storylines are completely gripping, but obviously pretty dark, often brutal. It's more believable than most similar programs, i think, perfectly written and shot, and the characters are developed better, both professionally and personally, throughout the three series.

Chris Eccleston's in the first series and brilliant, as you'd expect. Geraldine Somerville's absolutely flawless as Penthaligon, even Lorcan Cranitch's 'Jimmy Beck', though ultimately a bit of a monster, superb. It's a masterpiece. Definitely McGovern's best work.

Agreed?
