Intentionally avoiding workmates on your morning commute

wrightylew [Edit] [Delete] 16:30, 24 April '12

I recently had a covnersation with a bloke from work where he basically told me that he'd avoided me on the tram.

He said he could hear me and another workmate having a conversation about football behind him, but he didn't turn around and get involved on purpose, because he relished the time to himself reading the paper.

It earned him a lot of respect in my eyes. Firstly because I can completely relate to being in that situation. I'd say that most mornings, I hope to not bump into anyone so that I can just sit and listen to my Pod or read a book without fairly dull chat.

And secondly, for admitting it. If you clock someone with the mutual understanding that, although you both like eachother, you could both do without that dull morning conversation - that's a priceless understanding, isn't it?
