This Friday I will be going to Manchester to see Andrew WK. I will be arriving at 08.30 and have a day to kill.

I'll be honest, I hate Manchester. It's a hole. I've been there three times before and it seems the only place worth going is Canal Street. Everywhere else is just loaded with tracksuited hoodlums.

However, for the greater good (seeing AWK) I need to spend a day there. What is there to do that will change my opinion of the city? Or, what is there to do that won't make think "this is like a less good version of its equivalent in London", which is what i've though every other time i've been there?

I have very good friends from Manchester which makes me think it's probably not all bad, but I just don't know.
