It occurs to me I don't think I've ever seen a single advert for Amazon...

They must be one of the biggest corporations around but they don't seem to ever do conventional ads at all do they (like TV ads etc).
So...

Did they used to back in the day to establish themselves as a brand? If not, how did they become such a huge thing?

Does the fact that they are so enormously successful and don't appear to use conventional advertising send a message to other companies about the point of TV advertising?

Or.... or... what? I don't know. Something.
