Obviously my Dad <3’s my Mum, etc.. but this made me laugh when I was younger

I was on holiday once with my parents, in France, and we were driving along the Autoroute. I was in the front passenger seat, my Dad was driving and my Mum was in the back with my brothers

As a point of interest, my Dad pointed out that there was a dry ski slope to our right – it was some way off, in the distance. The dry ski slope was bright green, so to my Mum’s defence it’s not what you’d look for when trying to spot a dry ski slope – a. because they’re normally white and b. it was in the middle of nowhere surrounded by flat land, and it just looked like some kind of industrial structure; the sort of thing that trucks would drive up and tip stuff in.

My Mum puzzled for a while and then, once she’d spotted it, without thinking said (thinking out loud more than anything) “But it’s green?”

My Dad gave me a wry smile and said quietly…. “Yes darling, they can make plastic any colour these days”. Luckily my Mum didn’t hear.
