i'm off to poland with a few friends in a week or so. initially a few of them said they were going to visit the auschwitz site, as they had studied history, or, otherwise had an interest. i initially decided against going for personal reasons - i had concerns about it being too overbearing for me and the like

anyway it now seems that all my friends are going to visit. i'm still undecided - i don't think my initial feelings have changed but i'm not too keen on spending the day on my own either

i was just posting here to see if anyone's been and what your experiences were, and perhaps if you would advise someone in my situation to go (or more specifically to not go)

i know spending the day on my own etc isn't the worst thing in the world - i just wanted peoples experiences on the place as no one i know in the real world has been
