Hi. I don’t really get the ending of the film ‘Paris, Texas’

labmonkeya529 [Edit] [Delete] 20:53, 27 February '12

***MASSIVE SPOILER***

I don’t understand why Travis feels he HAS to leave at the end of the film, ceasing contact with his son. Seems to be a bit of an over dramatic and illogical conclusion to solving his family issues.

Yeah, he loves the beautiful Nastassja Kinski and he is worried that they might get embroiled in a disastrous and damaging relationship again, maybe his act could be seen as a selfless one as he is putting her (and the kid’s?) needs first, but he could still be on the scene to see his son and avoid her.

At the end it suggests he is driving off, never to see either of them again, but that essentially doesn’t make sense and is a bit of an illogical decision…….Why not see the kid on the weekends and get the brother and hot French wife to drop him off so he never has to see his ex-wife again. PROBLME SOLVED

For the illogical conclusion I give the film 7/10
