What things do you use imperial measurements for?

PocketMouse [Edit] [Delete] 11:33, 24 February '12

(if anything at all)

And why?

This was keeping me up all night (no, really), and I'm getting increasingly irritated by it. Why is it that so many young-ish people give their height and weight in stone/pounds and feet/inches? If metric measurements have been around for your lifetime, and you use them as default for the height & weight for non-human things, why on earth use imperial for yourself? I guess people tend to use miles too. And pints. Why? Why isn't everything one system?

If you use imperial for height / weight, you still know what it is in metric too, right? Or don't you? I went to the gymn when I was 16 or something, and the machines were definitely metric there, so surely you'd have to know it. And if you know it, why would you use imperial?

I don't get it :-\
