The crime genre has created some of the best TV/film in recent years.

I'm thinking of The Sopranos, The Wire, Drive, A Prophet, No Country for Old Men, the Pusher Trilogy, Kill Bill, Eastern Promises to name but a few.

When these films/shows are operating at their peak it feels like they are alluding to a deeper malaise across society.
