Yates (British director who did the recent Potter films) leaked it to Variety. Might be total lies but it's got the sci-fi geeks fuming as it'll be separate to the TV show, feature a new 'interpretation' of the Doc and possibly use US script writers based in Hollywood.

I like the Cushing films when I grew up and could totally imagine a big screen version working, but the shows charm does sort of come from it essentially being an anthology of varied adventure stories.

I liked the suggestion somewhere of it showing him nicking the TARDIS. I bet they'll fuck it up though, if it happens.
