Is it unethical to combine a long distance charity voyage with tourism?

countzero [Edit] [Delete] 15:57, 9 November '11

So for the last year I've been getting used to 80m+ weekend cycle trips and I've convinced some people to join me in cycling London-Barcelona next year in time for Primavera festival.

I thought it would be a nice idea to set up some sponsorship opportunity for a charity I have in mind but the other guys want to sight-see along the way and you know..do touristy things in cities and stuff.

But I'm not sure if this is ethical. Ok I know the originaly intention is to cycle to Primavera for a festival but the journey itself is a challenge and good candidate to raise some funds for a good cause. However doing all the touristy things on the way niggle a bit.

Has anyone done anything like this before and is there a conflict here?
