After continually not being brought night vision equipment for my birthday/christmases because my family just wimp out, i thought i should be more specific, so i wanted some advice from anyone who knows/uses it.

1) I want to be able to see a fair distance
2) I would like it to be attached to my head but a monocular would do, price and range are more important factors
3) I do not know whether to go for IR or just light enhancement......am I right in assuming that for IR you actually have to flood the area with IR light from the device. (is the only other sort of IR detection which is known as thermal imaging? (which is well pricey))

so any advice on 'bang for buck' (I want it cheap)
what sort of device or make?
ebay? or are there any cheap retailers of them....I spotted some in Aldi a few months ago and mentioned it to family but they didnt get it as a present and aldi no longer do them
