We need a new thread for this, in light of St. Paul's using the most spurious reasoning imaginable to turn the heat on an organised, friendly and constructive protest group.

Closing the cathedral due to 'health and safety concerns' and thus blackmailing the camp to leave is bullshit of the most profound order, and as the next few hours will hopefully show, the venality of the Church (a major corporate stakeholder, lest we forget) is founded on nothing but spite, prejudice and unChristian values. There hasn't been an official H&S warning - all mouth and no trousers.

Whether this turns nasty or not (hopefully not), the Church, which had gained enormous favour in the hearts of progressives, is showing itself to be a narrow-minded crock of shit after all.
