Best Wrong Number Stories...

An ex girlfriend had given me a phone handset out of lost property in the pub she worked. It was about 2001 and I was at university and flat refused to pay for a phone. This handset had been there for about 18 months so it was assumed long-forgotten.

Over the next year, I received regular voicemails from John's (the owner) mum asking him to call her back, and Xmas and New Year messages, the latter of which sounded rather forlorn.

I'm not trying to defend my co-opting the phone, but seriously, if you lose your phone or change your number, let your mother know. Unless he'd been murdered, in which case I was prime suspect.
