Any advice on things to take which I might not have thought of*, or what to do now in preparation / tomorrow when I move in?

I've changed my address with NHS and some magazine subscriptions, and I'm currently packing. I've registered with the local water company but I don't really know what to do with the gas and electricity meters: I'll take readings, then what? Our broadband isn't getting installed until Sunday.

Two of my friends come on Thursday and then the other two on Sunday.

Our landlord is kinda slack cos the kitchen is filthy plus there's loads of damp in the shower rooms but he's also quite chilled and friendly so I don't wanna be an asshole but he needs to sort it out.
