Sunday Books Thread 7

johnwiddop [Edit] [Delete] 12:23, 18 September '11

Last weeks two book threads combined mustered about 10 posts between them.

I always read books that people give me, so at the moment I'm reading a bok my dad sent me called 'Walk the Lines' by someoen called Mak Mason. It's one of those not high-literature travelogues about someone doing some sort of idiotic journey and stuffing it with trivia. Incredibly readable, and the trvial facts are completely useless, exactly the kind I want in this kind of book, and without any of the self-concious wittery and mistaken belief they're doing something worthwhile like Dave Gorman etc.

If anyone wants to send me books, please do. Not sure how much air mail is to Poland.

This weekend is the Guardian Book Swap. People choose one of their books, write something inside about how awesome it is, and then leave it in a public place. I kind of wish I could do this (back home I have about 5 copies of Posession by AS Byatt) but I don't think English language book swaps are that hot in Rybnik.

John Le Carre is suddenly hot property again with the new film of Tinker Tailor being universally drooled over by everyone. Really wanna see it. No Polish release date yet. Never read his books, but my dad reckons he's 'second only to Len Deighton in that genre'

Might re-read one of the Martin Amis books. What books have you re-read more than once?

Go wild.
