i remember when I got a mountain bike for the first time and it had 21 gears. 21 gears! i boasted a lot about the spec of my new mountain bike. then matthew (who i'd refer to by his full name were it not for the perils of Google) got a bike with 24 gears. He always had to have one better (or three better in this case).
