Sunday Books Thread 5

johnwiddop [Edit] [Delete] 13:35, 4 September '11

I'm feeling very ill this weekend so I'm staying in bed with my laptop tuned to mixcloud, a cat on the bed and a good book. I've just finished the William Styron book I was reading (pretty good, some excellent decriptions of being a total utter alcoholoic, nice twist on the murder mystery, some hot Italian ladies etc).
I'm trying to decide which of the 30 or so books I have here but haven't read to tackle next.

I have a book with all 3 of Kafka's novels: which one's best? (doesn't have any short stories in it)

Are any of these novellas worth reading?

Ian McEwan - Amsterdam
Michel Faber - The Courage Consort
Paul Harding - Tinkers

What are you reading?
Can you think of any examples apart from the obvious ones like The Godfather and Jaws where the film is vastly superior to the book? I'm nominated The Player. Average crime novel made into awesome Robert Altman masterpiece.
