When you ask someone what they do and they reply with something that couldn't feasibly support their living expenses

ehwhat [Edit] [Delete] 12:05, 11 July '11

I think I've drifted a little bit on this. Like I used to have this in-built LAW that what you "DO" is what pays the rent and it used to irk me in this vague way when people would be like "I compose haikus about knitting" or whatever - As if the gall to say that you "DO" something when you haven't passed the test of doing it to a standard sufficient to monetize and pay rent off it

...no you are NOT a screenwriter, you are a sales assistant and there's no shame in being a sales assistant.

I think more and more this might have been a jizzy way of looking at things, and only feeding the grubby entrenched art-as-commodity machine...Mammon and all of that. Like, if you feel it in your heart that you're a filmmaker specialising in inner city vegetarian fucking, I don't know...vegetarian CATS or some shit like that, then bully for you.

This doesn't include people who live off trust funds or anything silly like that.

I've ACTUALLY forgotten what I was talking about at the top of this message. Could someone pick this up for a while: I'm going to use the office Nespresso machine.
