This is a genuine question, because I have been reading a lot of passages from the Bible (Old and New testament) and it seems pretty mad, and fairly mental in most places. The teachings are so cloaked in strange structures and rather laborious story telling its almost impossible to take anything from them.

I ask this with the utmost respect for the texts too. I am genuinely interested in faith and this part of belief.
