Can we talk about Source Code?

Went to see this film last night as I was a fan of the director Duncan Jones’ last film Moon.

I don’t care what Theo says though, the trailer did make it look a bit average, so I wasn’t really sure what to expect.

It’s actually really good innit? There’s something slightly old-fashioned about it (in a good way). It’s very Hitchcock, only with a sci-fi twist. Shows some of the same inventiveness in using minimal locations as Moon, and some similar themes I guess (though I don’t want to go into spoilers).

Very nice tone to the whole thing. Intense in bits without being ‘Dark and Gritty’, with some nice lighter touches to help balance it out. The concept does fall apart a bit at the seams if you overthink it, but the dual plot strands keep you involved and entertained. Good performances from all involved as well.

Generally, well done! Two thumbs up!
