Picking up a Sony a500 next week, which comes with an 18-55mm. However, being a complete novice when it comes to photography, I don't know what I need when it comes to certain shots.

I basically want to focus on landscape photography out in the Scottish wildnerness on the one hand, and candid off-the-cuff portraiture while I'm wandering around London. Which lenses are going to be the best for that in terms of mm?

Finally... any good books? Have read Photography Theory which was sound, but would like to get stuck in to more.... any thoughts?
