Inspired by two pairs of trousers I bought yesterday that I didn't try on first as they were the same measurements as a pair I currently wear and like. I got home, tried them on and lo and behold a I had just purchased some ankle swingers. Brrrrr chilly ankles immediately came to mind.

I took them back today, got a couple of longer ones and this time tried them on just to be sure and they fit perfectly.

Apart from coats/jackets I'm not really a fan of trying clothes on in shops as it's a bit of a faff but I learnt a valuable lesson this time.

So in conclusion: Men do you try clothes on before you buy them and if so is does this apply across the board (jumpers, shirts,trousers,jeans etc) or only certain items?
