Food with protected status

jacques_le_biscuit_ [Edit] [Delete] 11:06, 24 February '11

I'm sure you've all read the news about Cornish Pasties receiving protected status. Only those prepared in Cornwall and have the design that look like the kind of shoes I imagine Theo wore on his wedding day are allowed to be called Cornish Pasties.

Other notable UK foods with protected status:

Whistable Oysters
Scotch Lamb & Beef
Melton Mowbray Pork Pies
Gloucestershire Cider/Perry
Kentish Ale
Dorset Blue Cheese

There are hundreds of protected foods in Italy, Spain and France.

Cheers
