It's strange, I've never really been there apart from a couple of fairly inconsequential football matches. I used to like the idea of it a few years ago, as it came across as somewhere that there wasn't any snobbery about popular culture or too many tarted-up wine bars and 'new labour' culture, and people had a good down-to-earth vibe of doing their own thing. Maybe I just read too many dreamy Long Blondes interviews, and Kate Jackson was from Suffolk anyway.

Arctic Monkeys' lyrics make it sound like a chav-infested shitehole, but I guess every city has areas like that so I'm not going to take them too seriously.
