One of those threads where someone has a semi-serious problem and everyone replies with comedy responses

SO, next Monday I have to re-interview for my job, as They're restructuring my department and cutting about 60% of the staff in the process

Here's the thing, though - I don't want it. I'm starting a degree in September, and as of the end of May I'm going to be out of the country for two months.

Before this all came up I was obviously just going to resign. The new structure kicks in April 4th with the new tax year, so when this was all announced U saw very little point in learning a new job for what will be seven weeks work (and, also, taking a permanent position for that amount of time when so many are being shed? not cool), so I put in for voluntary redundancy, explaining my reasons and assuming they would see sense.

They did not, and turned me down. I was officially told that this was because my performance is too good, and they need to ensure continuity of service when everything changes over.

This leads me on to two questions:

(a) will compulsory redundancy look bad on me in future?
(b) how should I throw the interview in such a way as to ensure I get compulsory redundancy?
