I'm in the process of comparing tarrifs for smartphones and I see the options are either 500MB or 1GB.

For those of you with smartphones and 500MB tarrifs do you find this is enough monthly? I can imagine the most I'd use my internet for would be checking sports reports/scores, getting directions and downloading apps/podcasts. Is 1GB a ridiculous amount that no one really needs?
