Slang!

oceanRain [Edit] [Delete] 01:20, 29 May '05
Back in the day - before most of ya's were born I expect - my gal Cindy explained to me that once ya start with the cocaine you can't stop. "Doesn't matter is yer a Smith or Jones." So the next time she called the connect she says, "We're 'jonesin''" and gives me a little wink.

Many years later her little joke spread and now it's almost common slang for 'craving'. I really don't know if Cindy invented this herself or if she'd heard it.

Mostly our slang these days comes outta the inner city black culture I expect. For a while everything 'good' was 'bad' and now the term of choice is 'sick'. As in, those rims are sick!

English slang is a heck of a lot more colorful, but doesn't seem to be as fluid as over here. I do really like 'git' and 'gash' though. (I larf big-time with the cockney typing!) But everytime I try 'mate' it doesn't come off very well. :-)

Favorite slang!
