Stalking Pete Doherty

Thom_fa [Edit] [Delete] 00:17, 11 May '05
"When part-time academic and occasional filmmaker Max Carlish chose ex-Libertine Pete Doherty, the UK's most famous heroin addict, as the subject of his comeback TV documentary, it was set to end in tears - and worse. Carlish filmed a troubled Doherty throughout much of 2004 and recorded footage of his habitual heroin abuse. Carlish is a BAFTA-winning programme-maker who has struggled with mental illness. He saw the Doherty film as a chance to get back on top but it all went sour when Doherty's people became frustrated with him and cut off access. Carlish sold the heroin abuse footage to a tabloid newspaper. Using Max's footage of his extraordinary encounters with Doherty, interviews with Doherty's friends and former band members and Max's mum, this unpredictable documentary about a documentary is a cautionary tale about a filmmaker who blurred the line between filmmaker and fan. Prod: Matt Webster; Exec Prod: Mark Raphael; Prod Co: North One TV"

On Channel 4 next Tuesday. Will anyone be watching it? Looks fascinating.
