R.I.P Zodiac

laelfy [Edit] [Delete] 16:38, 30 March '07

Well I'd known about it for ages, in fact I've had at least a year to prepare but I'm still gutted.

According to this morning's free papers, the Zodiac (Oxford - my favourite club and most visited gig venue) is going to be shut from May till September.

When it reopens it'll be 'The Carling Academy Oxford', with a larger 900-capacity gig venue, a smaller 436-capacity for smaller bands and a club.

According to the papers, Radiohead are going to guest at the reopening in September.

Any thoughts on this? How has this worked out in other cities? I know it'll bring bigger bands to the city but I can't help feeling my favourite venue is going to be runied. Still, as long as the new barstaff can understand 'Double JD and coke' when all other speech coming from my mouth is unintelligible, then I guess its ok.
