I would really appreciate advice on MP3 players

I don't actually own one and never have but have decided it's about time I did.

I intend to spend somewhere around £50 and guess the most important things are that it holds at least 1MB of songs and that it has a decent length of battery life (it'd be great if it was rechargable too). Although not necessarily likely it's also possible I might try taking a leaf out of Tim Ten Yen's book and use it for electronic songs during my gigs so also I'd quite like something that doesn't skip.

On a final point I probably should get something first-hand as I tend to break things so would ideally want some kind of replacement warranty.

Anyway

a) Are there any other important points I've missed?

b) Would you be able to make any recommendations?
