Lunch with Prole: "So, I'm thinking of taking a year out"

prole-art-threat [Edit] [Delete] 12:52, 5 March '07

Well apart from me once upon a time reading this as meaning "I'm a highly offensive individual with barely a cell of personality in my smug weedy body", just what DO people mean when they say they're taking a year out? Do they actually know? You assume it means 'delaying' university to go 'travelling' (like youre automatically barred from EVER going on a plane AGAIN once you start working) and is it only something you can do BY LAW between 6th form and University or just afterwards? COuld you take a 'year out' when youre 43? Do people who've stabbed up half the town treat their sentence as a 'year out', as in "I'm thinking of taking a year out from human soc., like guys"

Its a silly saying that seems to be codified with some really wrong connotations and I for one think it should be banned or something.

Consequently I never 'took a year out', as I didn't know what you were meant to do, such was the strength of this phrase on my silly naive mind.

Anyone else taken a year out and come back not being a cunt?
